I am doing two link ups today! Doodle Bugs Five for Friday and Blog Hoppin’s Teacher Week! Keep reading for a chance to enter a giveaway and free printable!
If you haven’t heard/seen yet… I am having a small little giveaway for a Vera Bradley 2014-2015 Agenda! I love my planner so much and it helps keep my daily life organized in more ways than one {school and home}! Be sure to enter. The giveaway ends this Sunday!
I started using Go Noodle this year in my class for the first time! So far we are loving it! There have only been a couple of days that I forgot to turn on Go Noodle and take a brain break. The kiddos are pretty good about reminding me that we need one. They love it!!
Another thing I am lovin’ this year is Remind! I know many of you were already using it, but we already had a system in place {School Loop} that allowed us to communicate with parents in groups without numbers or responses being shared. Well, this year my parish has gotten rid of School Loop and brought in Illuminate. The only thing is, all the kinks are not worked out yet. So, school starts and all these schools and teachers are back to work and without any way to communicate with parents {except sending notes home … we all know how that goes}! So I signed up for Remind and I have to say that I love it! I will probably keep using it, even after our new system has everything else place.
I have been in school now for two full weeks. Crazy right?? My first week was so hectic because my Great Grandmother passed away on the third day of school. I had to take off and travel to Arkansas for the funeral. She was 104 years old. Not many people can say they know someone who has lived that long. She had lived an extraordinary life too {all the changes she had seen and gone through}. For the most part, she lived a very simple happy life. She really had no health issues, she just passed away from old age. A few years back she wrote a book for all of her grandchildren {which is a lot}. In the book she talks about all the changes that she has seen over her life. It is so hard to imagine a life with out some of the everyday conviences we become accustomed to having, but in her book she outlines them so very well. Little things we take for granted like a car, washing machine, indoor plumbing. She even goes into detail about the Great Depression and how it affected her family. All of these were things that she saw develop over her life time. Her funeral was really more of a celebration of her life and the people she touched. I am so glad that she had written that book for all of us, because it gives me a personal look at a part of history that I will never know.
By the second week of school – well you can probably guess it – I ended up sick!!! Why does that happen to us teachers? We go all summer just fine and then by week two we are coughing and sneezing. I feel much better now. I went and had a stick {shot} in the rear and now I am good to go!
My # 5 is going to bring me into my second link up with Blog Hoppin’s Teacher Week: Day 5!
Today’s topic is “What” do you teach?
I teach all subjects, because I teach second grade. If I had to pick my favorite subject to teach, I would probably say Math and Science. This probably comes from my previous experience of teaching middle school for six years. When I taught middle school I taught Science and I absolutely loved it. Now that I am in the lower grades I really do like teaching math. I think I have {at least it seems this way to me} way of making math easier for children who have a hard time catching on.
Even though math is one of my favorite subjects to teach. Most of my products I make are for ELA. This is because I have so many math manipulatives and games that I really don’t have a big demand for much more. The area I lack resources is reading, grammar, and spelling. So I notice that is where I spend a lot of my time buying and making products. When I make a product I usually make it so that it will be used in my room as well. Every single product below is used in my classroom too!!!
Some of my favorite ELA products that I have made are:
Since math is my favorite subject to teach, I do have a math freebie for you! It is from my back to school pack that I recently added to my shop! Click on the image {printable} to download.

Now with all these school products out of the way, I am going to let you in on a little secret. My favorite thing to create for my TpT store is DIGITAL PAPER! I love to create it and try to come up with catchy names for each collection. I like to create it to use in my products, in my presentations at school, scrapbooking, & etc… I really like to create digital paper with a grungy look {I realize that is not for everyone}. Here are some of my FAVORTIE digital papers I have created!
What do you love to teach the most? I can’t wait to read or hear from you.
Well that about wraps it up for me. Have a great weekend! I {heart} comments and followers!
